You find right handed golf tips in every golf magazine available but it is nearly impossible to flip the instructions around to fit you. In addition, let’s not even talk about trying to flip the diagrams and pictures! How do you learn to play golf left handed? Here are a few golf tips for left handers.

1.Make sure you are doing the basics correctly. Lining up with the ball, keeping your clubface square, etc. If you are not sure, you may want to take a lesson with a club pro.

2.A proper right-handed grip will give you more control over the ball.

3.Point your right shoulder toward the target. Bad body alignment is a major cause of bad golf shots.

4.To strengthen your grip, concentrate on the right hand and not the left. If you concentrate too much on the left, then you may cause a fade or a slice.

5.Keep your left foot anchored flat on the ground. If your left foot comes up on the toe, then your hips are not moving correctly and therefore, your clubface may not remain square on the ball.

There are many left handed golf instruction books available also. Many of them are written by left handed golf professionals and will be full of excellent tips for the left handed golfer. There are also several videos of left handed golf tips. These can be found at your local bookstore, online, or even at your golf shop. The main way to learn to play golf left handed is to find an instructor who has experience teaching left handed golfers, invested in a good left handed golf instructions book, or watching other left handed golfers.

About the Author

Glenn Boulton is webmaster and publisher of Golf-Swing.Sportz-Online.Com
He presents reviews, information, and tips for improving your game on his website.

Golf Conditioning Myths

by: Mike Pedersen

Golf conditioning is here and now! Golf has always been viewed as a game of leisure. But today's golfer is leaner, stronger, and fitter. Until the last few years, golfers didn't know how to go about incorporating exercise or, specifically, a golf conditioning program.

They have had a vision of going into the local gym and being intimidated by the "muscle heads." It can also be overwhelming to decide what plan of action to take and if it will be worth the time and effort. I have listed three myths about strength training for golf and the truths about them as well.

"I will bulk up too much and that will hinder my golf swing."

Golf conditioning specific for golf will not result in muscle gain that will alter your swing mechanics. To increase muscle size, involves lifting increasingly heavier weights with lower repetitions, increasing your calorie intake dramatically, and spending a couple of hours per day lifting weights.

A golf conditioning program incorporates moderate weight, with medium (12-15) repetitions, and in a time frame of 30-45 minutes. This type of program is designed to improve your golf specific strength and endurance, not build muscle.

"I will lose flexibility if I lift weights."

In fact, the opposite is true! Weak muscles are also tight muscles. When you do resistance training, you are increasing blood flow, working through a functional range of motion specific to golf, and strengthening the tendons and ligaments in every joint of your body. In conjunction with a stretching program, strength training will improve flexibility, not hinder it.

"Weight training will cause me to lose feel."

By strengthening your muscles specific to golf, you will have better control of your body. A sport specific program trains your body specifically for your golf game. When you improve functional strength, you have more control and balance, which will improve your feel. Strength training involves body awareness, muscular control, and coordination. These are all key elements for enhanced golf.

So in summary, golf conditioning can be done when you are in your early teens (with supervision), or into your late 80's. I have personally worked with people in there 70's and 80's who increased their strength 100%. This was partly due to the initial level of fitness being so low.

My point is, that it is never too late to start. Search out a fitness professional or golf conditioning specialist to design a golf specific program and you will play better than you ever imagined!

Start now on your golf conditioning program!

About the Author

About The Author: Mike Pedersen is one of the top golf conditioning experts in the country, author of the Ultimate Golf Fitness Guide, and founder of several online golf fitness sites. Golf can be played on a beautiful course with as many people as you like, and in very pleasant weather. Golf if very gentle on your body, and is truly the sport of a lifetime.

Golf has many physical benefits and is a very efficient way to stay in shape, and has many physical benefits. With golf, you will get the most out of a round if you walk the course; this will also burn a number of calories and improve your cardiovascular health.

Carrying your clubs will strengthen your upper body and actually hitting the ball improves your hand to eye coordination.

Golf can be played by yourself or with as many friends as you like. You can also chat and visit between each hole while you are waiting on others to finish their holes. Or if you enjoy playing by yourself, you can enjoy the great outdoors, at your own pace.

Professional golfers make the game look easy. Their swing seems as fluid and effortless as running water, and they look as thought they are on a leisurely stroll as they pound drives more than 300 yards and hit high soft iron shots. The truth is they young professionals are strong and fit enough to make a complicated athletic move look simple.

Few amateurs can devote that amount of time, energy, and money to their golf games, but that shouldn’t stop them from making positive changes in their games by improving their strength and conditioning. Golf is a game of balance, discipline, and touch.

Enhancing and improving those specific shills, requires a balanced regimen with four important components: strength, flexibility, endurance, and diet.

There are many books and videos one this subject and I would suggest that all golfers invest in a good golf fitness program.

Good Golfing.
Dr. Richard Myers

richard@thinkandreachpar.com
http://www.thinkandreachpar.com/

An avid golfer, we maintain a golf training website with golf tips, weekly golf training, golf related articles, and a weekly newsletter.
